Every year, the RHHS Student Council organizes a talent show called Star Search, showcasing the best musical acts, dances, and demonstrations from talented students. This event is not only StuCo's cheapest event of the year for the general student population, but Star Search is also the only event where we give out awards — to the performers.

If you're interested in coming to this event, just read the details below. Tickets are typically not sold for Star Search; instead you pay at the door. Auditioning performers should read the section further down on this page.

For Auditioning Performers

Performers must bring their own instruments, but a drum set will be provided.

Auditioning performers should note the following judging criteria (in order of importance):

A.Originality/creativity: judges at the auditions will be looking for acts that are out of the ordinary and that have not been encountered time and time again before. This is the most important criterion that will determine whether your act will be performed at Star Search.

B.Entertainment value: judges will be looking to see that acts fall within time limits, do not drag on, and are interestingdon't bore your judges!

C.Audience appeal: your act should indicate some type of audience interaction or involvement, and though this is not necessary, it is recommended, because it will make your act so much more popular!

D.Skill level: this event is a talent show, so acts that demonstrate practice or skills beyond the scope of most students will be well scored here.

E.Aesthetic appeal: this aspect is far more important during the real performance than the auditions, but effective use of the stage or performing space and other visual matters will score well for this criterion.

Good luck to all of our auditioning performers! I will be judging auditions on Tuesday.
