The following description of the role of President is derived from the Application Form for this year's Student Council elections.

The President of Student Council has the responsibility of being the chief representative for the student population of RHHS. As such, he or she speaks regularly with the administration, teachers, custodial staff and secretaries. His/her presence is required at many meetings (these include School Council, YRPC, Student Council and even Staff Meetings) and he/she must possess essential interpersonal qualities. As a leader and a diplomat, his/her role on Student Council demands professionalism, and the utmost dedication. The President must lead the council as he/she plans annual social occasions, and is required to represent the students at events and ceremonies both inside (eg. Grade 8 Orientation, Parents' Night) and outside (ie. conferences) the school. Meanwhile, the President must take on several smaller, but still important duties that need to be completed. It is a very demanding job but also incredibly rewarding at the same time. He/she needs to learn how to work with people and make every effort to bring the group together. The President may also need to make some personal sacrifices in order to make the commitment necessary, but every sacrifice is well worth the final reward. Most of all, he/she must possess a genuine love for the school and its student body, and make every possible effort to make it better, happier, and prouder.
